Research interests include the use of colour in early modern book illustrations, the markets for sixteenth-century colour woodcuts, and historical colour printing techniques more broadly. Current projects include convening the conference Printing Colour 1700–1830 (London, 2018) with Ad Stijnman and completing a book on the making, using and collecting of colour woodcuts in the early modern German lands.

My research interests deal with early modern Italian printmaking, with a focus on portraiture and print collecting. I am currently investigating the printed portraits production in Venice and in Rome in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
